Thank you to all who participated in Simplify the Holidays 2008!
Despite hard economic times, friends of Wellspring Family Services donated over $190,000, slightly ahead of giving at this time last year. Over 40 companies, schools, and organizations participated in Holiday Drives allowing Baby Boutique to give new toys, warm coats and other essentials to nearly 600 homeless children throughout December. And each child attending Morningsong Early Learning Center received new toys and books for the holidays. Morningsong also received 12 new car seats for daily transportation of children from shelters to school. Wellspring Family Services staff gave out 40 donated grocery cards to families who receive help through our rental assistance program.
Even though many of you tightened your own family holiday spending, you certainly did not refrain from generous giving to families in need.
Allison DeLong, long time volunteer with Baby Boutique, decided to make a special year end donation to Wellspring Family Services. "I am extremely conscious of how lucky I am to have a job, not to mention a home and a car, "Allison said. "More and more people are likely to become homeless, and it's important for those of us who have to share with those who don't."
Thank you to all of you who helped make this a season of hope for the children and families of Wellspring Family Services.
