You may have heard the whoops of joy coming from the new Rotary Support Center for Families on August 28 as we received a wonderful gift from long time supporters and friends, Ken and Marleen Alhadeff. This gift marked the successful close of our $12.5 Million capital campaign!
We are incredibly thankful to everyone who had a hand in making this dream come true. Nearly 1,300 donations ranging from a jar full of pennies to $1 Million allowed us to not only achieve our campaign goal, but receive the $950,000 Kresge Challenge grant too.
Add to that the State's Building Community Funds grant and a total of $14.5 Million was contributed over the last 3 years to build our new family support center on Rainier Avenue South.
"The completion of the Capital Campaign and finishing the Kresge Challenge is about far more than dollars raised and buildings opened," said Wellspring Family Services CEO/President Ruthann Howell. "From the beginning of this campaign, we have talked about the impact that this new home will have on the children and the families that we serve and their future. We are already working to fulfill our promise inside of this new facility - to end homelessness for 5,000 families in 10 years."
Today, we have a stunning storefront for the Baby Boutique; a real playground and light-filled classrooms for Morningsong; a respectful environment for families in desperate need of housing; a hopeful, healthful room for our domestic violence groups; and private offices with observation rooms for our parent/child therapists.
The services and dignity we knew families deserve were translated flawlessly into a place we now call home. Thank you to our entire community for supporting this tremendous effort. We love touring people through our new home and hope that each one of you will stop by to witness the impact your generosity directly makes on the lives of children and families.
