Agency Highlights

• A period of decentralization: by 1966 the agency has 12 branch offices, including service in the Eastside suburbs. Counseling remains the primary focus but social advocacy becomes part of the mission also.
• 1961 — The Homemaker Service is established as an agency program with funding from Boeing, Junior League, Paccar and others.
• 1962 — The agency changes its name to Family Counseling Service.

• The World Fair is held in Seattle and the Space Needle and Monorail become local icons.
• The Evergreen Point floating bridge opens.
• Gulf of Tonkin resolution and the escalation of the Vietnam War.
• "Forward Thrust" bond issues support the Kingdome, parks, and rail transit.
