Agency Highlights

  • Centralized financial support from The Community Fund helps the agency focus on "constructive service for families" as well as giving direct relief aid.
  • The agency provides case management for other organizations such as Theodora House (run by Volunteers of America) for homeless mothers and children. The agency grows to five offices throughout Seattle.
  • 1926 — The first master-degree level social worker is hired as a "mental hygiene expert."
  • 1926 — The agency hires Jewish social workers to assist the growing Jewish immigrant community.
  • 1928 — The agency legal-aid service spins off as an independent organization under guidance of the Seattle Bar Association.
